In June 2010, Massachusetts Hockey, with a recommendation from USA Hockey, voted to adopt the new American Developmental Model (ADM) or the 2011-2012 and future seasons. Since Dorchester Youth Hockey is a member of Massachusetts Hockey, we will be implementing the new ADM model for all Mite age players beginning in the 2011-2012 season.

For the 2011-2012 Season:
(1) Mite A teams must play a minimum of 15 cross ice games
(2) Mite B teams must play a minimum of 20 cross ice games
(3) Mite C, D, etc, must play ALL cross ice games (no full ice)

What is the American Developmental Model (ADM)?
The ADM is a nationwide model for successfully developing American hockey players starting at the Mite level. Brought to you by USA Hockey, in partnership with the NHL, the American Development Model (ADM) provides age-appropriate guidelines and curriculum to hockey associations across America to help more kids play, love and excel in hockey.

The new ADM model is aimed specifically at Mite age children (ages 6, 7, and 8). CYHA has been implementing many of the methods introduced in the new ADM model in our Instructional and Mite programs.  The ADM shifts the focus from winning to developing individual skills and having FUN.

HOCKEY IS THE ONLY MAJOR SPORT THAT DOESN’T SHRINK ITS PLAYING SURFACE TO MATCH THE AGE GROUP.  With USA Hockey’s ADM program-which promotes the integration of cross-ice practices and games into youth hockey- we can raise the level of creativity among players, increase player participation, and create a positive environment for kids to learn and play.
